Around 200 people watched the spectacular final of the men's halfpipe in Zurich's 'Cabaret' club with great excitement. The mood was already dampened during the 1st run of the qualification round by the early out of Markus Keller and Christian Haller, while Sergio Berger and Iouri Podladtchikov showed their skills in the 2nd qualification round. Sergio was also knocked out early on, leaving only the Swiss Iouri Podladtchikov at the start. Iouri's older brother, Igor Podladtchikov, provided a live musical performance with his self-penned songs for the dancing crowd. The legendary Prince Boogie once again provided plenty of entertainment and most people stayed until the end. At around 04:00, the time had come. The long-awaited finals of the 2010 Olympic Games were just around the corner. The tension and the associated hope of a medal grew from second to second. On his first run, Iouri impressed both the audience and the judges with his technically good run and placed ahead of Lago and Peetu Piiroinen. Peetu showed a good 2nd run and was able to make up around 3 places, placing him in 2nd place behind Mr. White. All eyes were now on our man from Zurich. The anticipation of a medal was huge, but it just wasn't to be. After the first double cork, which was perfect in the air, he lost his balance on the landing and fell back to a thankless 4th place. Thanks guys, you put on a good show!!! check out: Glanz&Gloria 1. shaun white, usa, 48.4 2. peetu piiroinen, fin, 45 3. scotty lago, usa, 42.8 4. iouri podladtchikov, sui, 42.4 5. louie vito, usa, 39.4 6. markku koski, fin, 36.4 7. justin lamoureux, can, 35.9 8. kazuhiro kokubo, jpn, 35.7 9. ryo aono, jpn, 32.9 10. mathieu crepel, fra, 25.9 11. markus malin, fin, 18.6 12. gregory bretz, usa, 18.3
