SNOWBOARD STARS OF TOMORROW AT THE VÖLKL WORLD ROOKIE FINALSThe next generation of international snowboarders will be battling it out for the coveted title of "World Rookie Champion" from April 3 to 5, 2014. At the Völkl World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, up-and-coming snowboard stars put their talents to the test. The future snowboarding elite will gather in Ischgl from April 3 to 5. At the grand finale of the World Rookie Tour, talents from all over the world will compete against each other and prove their skills in slopestyle. The initiator is the N.ASA (New Austrian Snowboard Association) in cooperation with the WSF (World Snowboard Federation) and the World Snowboard Tour. It is the only rookie tour in the world. The young talents, who must be a maximum of 18 years old, were able to qualify for the final in Ischgl at various WSF Rookie Tour stops in Europe, Asia, South America and North America. The "World Rookie Champion 2014" will be crowned there on April 5. The Rookie Tour is the ideal springboard to the big pro events and sets the course for a successful start as a snowboard star: in addition to prizes, the best rookies win starting places on the World Snowboard Tour (such as the Air & Style), sponsorship contracts and video shoots.Promoting talent in slopestyleThe concept of the World Rookie Tour is simple: established up-and-coming boarders and newcomers are given a stage on which they can compete against each other and draw attention to themselves. The winners of the contests in Australia, Chile, Italy, France, the Czech Republic and the USA are invited to Ischgl to get a taste of the pro air. The best female and male slopestylers in the world will be determined in the age categories "Grom" (16 years or younger) and "Rookie" (16 to 18 years). In addition, the 30 best riders in the WSF World Rookie Ranking are allowed to compete. The "World Rookie Final" is more than just a contest in every respect: The mega-talents are prepared for life as a snowboard pro in numerous offers such as avalanche training, photo and video sessions or meetings with team managers and sponsors. The social aspect is also a focus in Ischgl: together with Lebenshilfe Tirol, there is a workshop in which the participants make hats, for example, together with physically impaired people. Of course, sexual health is also not a taboo topic thanks to GummiLove.Preliminary schedule of the Völkl World Rookie Finals in Ischgl:Thursday, April 3, 201410.30 - 13.30: Training in Ischgl SnowparkFriday, April 4, 2014 09.00 - 10.30: Training in Ischgl Snowpark 11.00 - 15.00: Qualification in Ischgl SnowparkSaturday, April 5, 201409.00 - 10.30: Training in the Ischgl Snowpark 11.00 - 15.00: Super Finals in Slopestyle in the Ischgl Snowpark 18.00: Award ceremony in the Silvretta Center 22.00: World Rookie Fest Aftercontest Party in the Silvretta Centerwww.worldrookietour.comLET'S TALK ABOUT IT WORKSHOP ISCHGL WORLD ROCKIE FINALS 2013 from GummiLove on Vimeo.2013 Volkl World Rookie Finals - final recap from Board.tv on Vimeo.
