The Sk8board PumpKing Challenge enters its third round

From April 28, skateboarding will be back in full swing. Skateboard fans from all over Switzerland will meet at a total of six locations to compete for the title of "Pump Queen & King" on the asphalt pump tracks. The Sk8board PumpKing Challenge was founded in Switzerland in 2016 and is unique in the world. The event unites skaters, snowboarders and surfers in one place and is fun for everyone from amateurs to pros and from young to old. Dani 'Gummi' Rietmann founded the challenge in 2016 with the idea of uniting the skate, surf and snowboard scenes. Where previously mainly BMX and mountain bikers met, athletes now compete on four wheels. Racing on pump tracks with skateboards has developed into a new discipline with great potential. Similar to the banked slalom in snowboarding, it has managed to reach the masses. The recipe for success: everyone can take part and have fun doing it. Pros show how it's doneWell-known names from the scene such as Fabian Roher, Tamara Prader and many more are on hand to show how to master the hills and banked turns of a pump track. The Swiss Skateboard Academy will be on site with professional skateboarder Simon Stricker and will be offering workshops for ambitious skateboarders. "The PumpKing Challenge is unique because it combines skating, snowboarding and surfing in one event. I am particularly pleased that I can also promote young talent in this way." - Simon Stricker, skateboard pro skateacademy.chSomething for everyoneFrom Solothurn to Chur, from young to old, from amateur to pro, everyone can take part in the Challenge, which is held in eight categories: Kids -7 years, Rookies 8 - 12 years, Juniors 13 - 17 years, Open Class 18 - 29 years, Masters 30 - 39 years, Super Masters 40+, Girls -14 years, Womens 15+. Over 150 participants took part in 2017, and the organizers are confident that they will be able to get even more people interested in the young sport this year. It seems that the idea that winning is not the measure of all things has struck a chord with the times. For many people, sport is not just about performance, but also about lifestyle, where a cozy get-together is celebrated just as much as a gold medal. Nevertheless, participants will not go away empty-handed: prizes worth CHF 22,000 will be distributed during the tour and the winners can look forward to an impressive CHF 2,000 in prize money. https://youtu.be/qvtUfSp4jVI More information and registration at https://www.pumpkingchallenge.ch/
