The Queen & Kings are back

The fourth edition of the Swiss pump track skating championship starts on May 5 in Berneck St. Gallen. In Molis Glarus Nord, Bellwald Valais and Balzers Lichtenstein, skaters can qualify for the final in Cevio in beautiful Ticino. https://youtu.be/4hIbTlWlCTo

Hot news!

Entire teams can now also register for the PumpKing Challenge. The aim is not for one of the team to be the fastest, but for the time difference between the fastest and slowest rider in the team to be as small as possible. The teams can receive additional points from the spectators. The louder the applause, the better the ranking. However, the team challenge is "just for fun" and no points are awarded for the championship. Also new this year, according to the press release, is the collaboration with the social organization #pumpforpeace. The association was founded in 2017 with the aim of bringing pump tracks and bikes to disadvantaged areas of the world in order to create sustainable places of health and tolerance. Now the Swiss skaters are to do their bit and donate old but still usable skates to someone who can't afford one themselves.

A healthy future for young people

One of the main aims of the event is to give young people a playful approach to sport in order to promote health. However, health is also based on a healthy diet, which is why smoothie workshops are held at every stop. Swiss Olympic hopeful in skateboarding, Simon Stricker, will also be taking part in the events with his "Skateacademy" and will be showing young and young-at-heart how to master the hills and banked turns at workshops, according to the press release.

Tour stops in 2019

The tour begins on May 5 in Berneck and continues on June 15 in Glarus Nord. This will be followed by qualifiers in Bellwald VS and Balzers in August until the final on September 14 in Cevio in Ticino. Further information and registration can be found at pumpkingchallange.ch.
