Laax Open 2020

The Laax Open 2020 - the snowboard event of the year! The best snowboarders in the world were there to prove their skills. And GummiLove was right in the middle of it.

I could hardly sleep on the night from Thursday to Friday. I was so excited. It was the first Laax Open of my life.

On Friday, I set off very early on the train from Zurich to Laax. I was the only one of the GummiLove rookies who was already on the mountain on Friday. My Postbus reached the wonderful Laax at 10:30 am. I picked up my Mediacard at the Rockresort and checked into our hotel room at Peaks Place. I didn't have much time to chill out. The mountain was waiting! I met Corinne and Dani at the GummiLove office. There were two other friends with them. They spoke English. I had no idea who they were but I greeted them politely and we all went up the mountain together. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and the perfect slopes. After two or three runs, Corinne told me that I was with Nicolas Müller (GummiLove ambassador and professional snowboarder) and his girlfriend.

I had no idea who he was and I was a bit embarrassed but I'm not really into the snowboarding scene so I didn't make a big deal out of it. But I had a great time with them, his girlfriend Olivia is super nice and I got on really well with her.

After a hearty soup at NoName, I got to work with Corinne. We had a warm-up drink together and got started. However, we were interrupted time and again. At one point, Corinne greeted an older but very good-looking gentleman in a red jacket. They got chatting and Corinne introduced us. He was Donald Nader, the organizer of the Laax Open. He told us interesting facts about past Laax Opens and how wonderful it was again this year.

A short time later, after the slop style finals, Corinne spoke to an English-speaking man. She told him he had done a great job again. I somehow recognized his voice. It was Hendry Jackson, the presenter of the Laax Open. At some point we did manage to film an intro and we also did our challenge. Towards the evening, we enjoyed a ginger gin at the valley station and handed out Gummi, it was pretty fun. We also created a GummiLove dance, which we used to shake our hips at the party in the evening.

At around 7 p.m., Emi arrived and we went to hand out rubbers for a while so that everyone could go out safely.

On Saturday we all meet at the GummiLove office at 10 am. Emi, Silibily, Goio, Luca (the filmer), Corinne, Dani and me. The first thing on our agenda for the day was to take videos and photos for 20 minutes.

Packed with a goodie bag, magazines and, of course, lots of rubbers, off we went.

But before we got down to work, we enjoyed a few more runs while Corinne dedicated herself to her challenge. After a great lunch at Galaxy, we got to work. Our assignment: Gummies as a reward for those who could feel what was in our goodie bag. It was great fun. When the halfpipe final started, we gave up our efforts to chat people up and all watched the pros with excitement. After the final, we rode back down the floodlit slope to the valley station where the party was already waiting for us in the valley.

Later in the evening, it was off to the Ridersclub! There we partied until 05:00 and handed out Gummies to the partygoers.

It was an absolutely awesome weekend. Not only did we have a lot of fun, we were also able to show off our skills like the professional snowboarders. Not by snowboarding, but by making the participants aware of the topic of "sexual health".
