The man’s hand lay on her thigh and stroked her

A funny thing happened to my colleague before the coronavirus crisis. She was on the train home from work when an older man sat down next to her," says rookie Tizi. The two of them had a nice chat, but it wasn't just about talking. "The man put his hand on her thigh and kept stroking it upwards." Her friend then no longer felt comfortable and fled the compartment. "When she told me this, I also thought about how I would react," says Tizi. You can see how she would have reacted in the video.

The Sexpert tip

Corinne Rietmann, sexual health specialist.

"In situations like this, a victim's own shame often renders them defenceless and gives the perpetrator far too much power. No one has the right to touch a person unwantedly. Unfortunately, perpetrators often go unpunished, as in this situation. I hear many stories like this in class or from young people themselves. Most of them simply want to get out of such situations as quickly as possible, which is quite understandable. Unfortunately, this means that one perpetrator goes unpunished and ends up touching the leg of the next young woman sitting next to him. I know it takes a lot of courage, but it's important to try to draw attention to yourself. For example, by asking for help from other people or the train crew. If something has happened to someone, there is a victim support service in every canton that you can turn to. You can get advice there anonymously and free of charge." *Corinne Rietmann is a sexual health specialist and project manager for education and prevention.
