Elias Ambühl

Elias has been taking part in AFP World Tour competitions since 2009. In January 2009, he took his first victory in slopestyle at the Austrian Freeski Open in Mayrhofen. At the start of the 2009/10 season, he took second place in Big Air at freestyle.ch in Zurich. Later in the season, he took third place in Big Air at the Winter Dew Tour on Mount Snow and at the Jon Olsson Invitational in Åre and second place at the Barcelona Big Air. At the 2010 Winter X Games in Aspen, he won the bronze medal in Big Air.

In the 2010/11 season, he won Big Air at the Budapest Fridge Festival, Big Air at the European Freeski Open in Laax and Slopestyle at the Jon Olsson Invitational in Åre. Also this season, he came second in big air at King of Style in Stockholm, in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Killington, at the Austrian Freeski Open in Kaprun and in big air at the Frostgun Invitational in Val Thorens. At the 2011 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Park City, he took 12th place in Slopestyle. The following season, he won the Big Air at freestyle.ch in Zurich, the Fridge Festival in Budapest and the King of Style in Stockholm.

He made his World Cup debut in Copper Mountain in January 2013, finishing 46th in the slopestyle. In the same month, he won the bronze medal in Big Air at the 2013 Winter X Games in Aspen. At the 2013 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Voss, he took 43rd place in Slopestyle. At the start of the 2013/14 season, he took third place in Big Air at the Fridge Festival in Vienna.

At his first Olympic participation in 2014 in Sochi, he achieved 22nd place in the slopestyle competition, which was held for the first time. In the 2014/15 season, he won Big Air at the Toyota One Hit Wonder in Thredbo, the Frostgun Invitational in Val-d’Isère and Slopestyle at the SFR Freestyle Tour in Vars.

At the 2015 Winter X Games in Aspen, he took bronze in Big Air. At the end of the season, he took third place in Big Air at the AFP World Tour Finals in Whistler, placing second in the AFP World Tour Big Air rankings. At the 2016 Winter X Games in Aspen, he won the bronze medal in Big Air, as in the previous year. The following year, he took 12th place in Big Air at the 2017 Winter X-Games and fifth place at the 2017 X-Games Norway in Hafjell.

In the 2017/18 season, he came 19th in the overall World Cup and second in the Big Air World Cup with three top ten finishes, including first place in the Big Air in Milan. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he finished ninth in slopestyle.
