HIV

HIV stands for "Human Immunodeficiency Virus", which means "human immunodeficiency virus". HIV is a virus that weakens the immune system and can lead to AIDS. You can contract HIV by having unprotected sex, getting blood from someone with HIV or from an HIV-positive mother during pregnancy or childbirth. There are drugs that can strengthen the immune system and slow the spread of HIV, but there is currently no cure for HIV.
