Inter

also: inter, intersex, intersexuality. Intersex people are people whose physical sex (e.g. genitalia or chromosomes) cannot be clearly determined as male or female, but lies on a spectrum between the two sexes. To this day, the genitals of intersex children are surgically adapted in order to assign them to one of the two standard medical sexes, usually the female sex. This can lead to considerable health restrictions and psychological problems.
