Intimacy is the feeling of closeness and familiarity that comes from spending time with someone. It can refer to many types of relationships, including romantic, sexual and platonic relationships. It can refer to physical closeness, emotional connection and the sharing of thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it also refers to sexual intimacy ("becoming intimate"), i.e. getting sexually close.
