Question submitted for topic Pregnancy

My girlfriend may be unintentionally pregnant. What should I do?

My girlfriend could be pregnant because she hasn't had her period even though she's taking the pill. Now I wanted to ask when exactly she can have an abortion? What can I do or say if she is pregnant? I would like to support her but I don't want to become a father either. I think she doesn't want to become a mother either, because she is very afraid she might be pregnant. But I'm afraid I might do something wrong if I tell her that I don't want a child. But I also don't want to lose her because I love her.

Hello TB
Thank you for your question and for taking responsibility for your girlfriend's possible pregnancy.
The best thing for her to do first is to take a pregnancy test. You can buy these in drugstores, pharmacies and larger grocery stores. However, discuss together beforehand what you can do if the test is positive. This could be, for example, contacting a family planning center or pregnancy advice center. Here you will receive comprehensive and free advice and support. You can also contact them before taking a pregnancy test and have the test carried out under supervision. These services are free of charge and, of course, confidentiality is mandatory. Abortion is permitted in Switzerland up to the 12th week of pregnancy. You can also talk to a specialist about this at one of the contact points mentioned above.
There can be various reasons why you don't menstruate, but you can only be sure with a test.
I wish you both good luck.
