Question submitted for topic Contraception

Should I take the morning-after pill?

I had sex with my boyfriend. We normally use condoms for contraception, but unfortunately we had sex without them on Friday. With "pull out beforehand", I know, anything but ideal. Unfortunately, it just happened spontaneously. Anyway, he didn't come inside me. So I thought nothing would have happened. But according to a cycle tracking app, I should have ovulated on Friday ... so now I'm scared. Should I take the morning after pill or is there anything else I can do to prevent pregnancy? I really don't want to get pregnant at the moment!

Dear Christina

Great that you wrote to us straight away. I would recommend that you get emergency contraception. You can get it from a pharmacy. You have to go there yourself because you have to take it on the spot.

Otherwise, you can also see your gynecologist or go to a hospital. "Premature extraction" is definitely not a safe method. If you have any more questions, please write to me again.

All the best, Corinne
