On the 12th Feb 2011 some of the best riders will return to the Silvretta Montafon mountain in Schruns/Montafon to be part of the Silvretta Montafon Freeride Festival. Professional freerider Eric Themel is bringing back the prestigous event to the Hochjoch mountain after a two year break. Together with the Silvretta Montafon resort he will present a weekend full of freeriding and good vibes.
5o Top-athletes from all over the planet will ride in the invitational competition and show what freeriding is all about. The weekend-program will include side-events such as freeride-ski and board tests, giving people the chance to rent the newest freeride equipment down at the Silvretta Montafon Intersport rental center. And last but not least the legendary “after contest party” will be going down in the Kapell restaurant at 1850m! The location can only be reached by gondola and will kickoff with movie premiere’s which will feature Jeremy Jones „Deeper“ , the Red Bull Media house production Australis and An antarctic ski odyssey starring Chris Davenport, Stian Hagen and Andrea Binning!
Everyone is welcome to take part in the event just send an application to ericthemel@hotmail.com including competition results and more about your riding! Eric Themel will then invite the lucky top 50 riders to compete at the Freeride Festival.
The Silvretta Montafon Freeride Festival by Eric Themel won’t be on the calendar of the Freeride Worldtour but will use the same judging system . With this event the organizer will start a new era for freeriding in the valley of Montafon
The festival will show the spirit of the sport and bring together people who share the same passion. The whole show will finish off with the party in the Kapell restaurant with international DJ’s on the wheels of steel in the outstanding location just above the town of Schruns.
For the party the Hochjoch gondola will be operating on the 12. Feb 2011 from 20:00 to 05:00 in the morning. Entrance to the movie premiere’s and the party will be 8€ and can be purchased at the bottom station of the Hochjoch gondola or can be pre purchased at every ländleTICKET shop. Ticket’s will include transport with the gondola .
